STOP FOOD WASTE
TVCR would love to organize pods of volunteers to help us make some of the 500 free backyard compost bins we will be giving out valley-wide in our Stop Food Waste initiative.
Compost Bin Making and GiveAway -
TVCR will need volunteers from 11-3 on both Thursday and Friday - 2 hour time slots.
“Help Recyclers” Day -
Saturday at the Transfer Station Recycling bins from 8:30-12:30 - 2 hour time slots.
About Compost Bin Construction -
TVCR is launching an ambitious plan to reduce food waste in Teton Valley. As part of that initiative, we will be making and distributing 500 backyard compost bins, in conjunction with educational materials and support for new composters. On Earth Day, we will be looking for volunteer help in making backyard compost bins out of hardware cloth. No experience is necessary - just gloves. All other equipment will be provided. Volunteers will be working in groups of 2-3 for approximately 1-2 hours helping to measure and cut wire. Volunteers can take a free compost bin home with them. Shifts will be available on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
About “Help Recyclers” Day -
Join TVCR Board members to assist and educate self-haul recyclers at the Transfer Station “recycle right” to reduce contamination and meet new people who care about the environment. Volunteers will help answer questions and can offer to help sort recycling with patrons. No experience required. We will train you, so it is a great way to learn about recycling in our County. Experienced Board members and County staff will be on hand to answer tough questions.
